As a host in a Studio Broadcast presentation, you run the stage. Learn how to control the stage, speakers and content to deliver a polished presentation for your attendees.

Using the Studio

Once you've logged in to the webinar and entered the Studio, familiarize yourself with the Studio layout and controls:

1. Start Stream - The Start stream button will allow you to start displaying the stage to attendees. You'll also control speakers entering the studio and sharing their screen.
2. Stage - The stage shows what will be presented to attendees when the stream is live.
3. Layouts - Layouts control how your speakers and content are oriented on the stage. You can also decide whether or not name cards appear under your speaker's video.

4. Speaker and Content Sources - Toggle between the Speakers and Content tabs to determine what you can add to the stage.
5. Check Content Maximums - Review how many sources are currently shared in the Studio. Use the Manage dropdown to add new content or change the background.
6. Speaker chat - Open the Speaker chat to keep in touch with other hosts and speakers.

Managing Speakers

Once you've entered the Studio, learn these speaker controls:

Determine when speakers appear

As the host, you decide when speakers appear to attendees on the stage. Hover over a speaker and use the Show and Hide buttons to determine which speakers are visible. This will automatically turn on their video and audio.

In the Speakers section, you can reorder the speakers by dragging and dropping their tiles in the order you want them to appear.

Spotlight a speaker

Need to put a speaker front-and-center? Clear your stage for one speaker by using the spotlight button in the top-left of their tile. You'll have to re-share any other speakers or content later.

Feature a speaker

Want your main speaker to remain prominent? Use the star button and they will always appear in the top-left position on the stage.

NOTE: This feature works best when you have three or more speakers.

To make the featured speaker appear larger on the stage, select the right-most speaker layout below the stage and click Update stage.

Assign slide control to a speaker

In Studio Broadcast presentations, hosts can assign control of a PDF presentation to a speaker. Hover over the source content and click theicon. Check the box next to the speaker's name, or click Select all to give every speaker control of the slides.

Click Save. Anyone you've given permission to will now be able to click through the slides.

Enable or disable a speaker's video

As the host, you have final say on which speakers' cameras and audio are visible in the Studio. To change a speaker's visibility, click the camera button in the top-right of their tile.

NOTE: Speakers can always turn their video on or off after you've updated their settings. You can always click Hide to completely remove a speaker from the stage.

Enable or disable a speaker's audio

You can veto a speaker's audio, or turn on audio for a speaker who's having trouble. To do so, click the microphone button in the top-right of their tile.

NOTE: Speakers can always turn their audio on or off after you've updated their settings. You can always click Hide to completely remove a speaker from the stage.

Choose speakers and content for a layout

Prepare a new layout for your speakers and content by creating a view. Below the stage, select the speaker layout you want. You can choose to display up to 10 speakers, and one image or video to appear on the stage. Speakers will appear in the order they are displayed in the Speakers section below the stage, and content will appear to the right by default.

NOTE: Consider using the Speaker chat to give speakers a heads-up that they're about to be on the stage.

Once you're ready, click Update stage to change the layout.

All speakers you selected will have their video and audio turned on automatically.

Managing Content

Once you've entered the Studio as a Host, you can add stock content, or upload video, images, and audio using these content controls:

Determine when content appears

As the host, you decide when content appears to attendees. You can find default stock content, as well as any content you've added, in the Content tab.

If the content has audio, use the audio controls on the right of the content tile to set the volume. Or to turn it off entirely, click the speaker button in the top-right.

If you want to set a video to repeat once it's done playing, click the loop button in the top-right. It will repeat on the stage until you hide the content. The loop button will be white when it's set to repeat.

When you're ready for the content to be visible to attendees, click Show, or add it to a layout.

If the content is a PDF presentation, use the controls under the stage to move back and forth through the slides, or assign control to a speaker.

Share your screen

If you want to present live content from your computer, you can share your screen to attendees. To do so, click Manage, then Share your screen.

Determine if you want to share one tab, one window, or the whole screen. Select the page you want to appear on the stage, decide if you want to share audio, then click Share.

The screen share will appear as a tile in the Speakers tab. When you're ready, you can share it or add it to a new layout.

NOTE: Up to two speakers or hosts can share their screens to the Studio, but only one can appear on the stage at a time.

Click Stop sharing when you don't want your screen to be visible anymore.

Spotlight content

Need to put your content front-and-center? Clear your stage by using the spotlight button in the top-left of their tile. You'll have to re-share any speakers or content later.

Upload new content

You can upload videos and images you've created to share with attendees during the presentation. To do so, click Manage, then Upload content. Keep in mind the following:

  • Keep files under 1 gb and in .mp4, .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif, .mp3, .wav, or .pdf format.

  • For images, .png files are recommended, as Studio will respect the transparent layers in the graphic.

  • Content should be 1920x1080 resolution for the best results, but any 16x9 aspect ratio file will scale to fit the canvas. If you use a different aspect ratio, the background will be visible.

  • Audio files can be live across different layouts, and even while other videos or live sources are playing audio.

Once the content is added, it will appear in the Content tab. When you're ready, you can share it or add it to a new layout.

Choose stock content

Studio has stock videos that you can add to your Content tab. To add it, click Manage, then Add stock content.

A pop-up will appear with the stock options. Select the content you want to add, then click Save.

Once the content is added, it will appear in the Content tab. When you're ready, you can share it or add it to a new layout.

Change the stage background

You can change the default background to one of the stock backgrounds, or upload a custom background image. To do so, click Manage, then Choose background.

A pop-up will appear with the stock options. Select one and click Save, or use a custom background instead. To do so, click and drag your desired image into the file uploader, or click Open File Browser and select the image from there.

Keep in mind the following:

  • Files should be under 5 mb and in .jpg, .jpeg, .png, or .gif format.

  • Custom backgrounds should be 1920x1080 resolution for the best results, but any 16x9 aspect ratio file will scale to fit the canvas.

The new background will automatically update on the stage.

NOTE: Backgrounds are only saved on your canvas. If you switch to a different background, follow these steps again to re-upload your background.
