Want to help your webinar hosts, speakers, and moderators get rid of their pre-event jitters? Follow these instructions to complete a dry run of your live or pre-recorded presentation before your webinar.
Testing a Live Presentation
1 Configure your presentation. Follow these instructions to configure your presentation to include a Studio Broadcast or Collaboration video.
2 Make sure testers are registered for the webinar. Next you'll need to register your team members for the webinar, if you haven't already. Your test group should include the speakers for the presentation, any moderators responsible for managing the engagement features, and any hosts responsible for managing the presentation participants.
NOTE: Each team member counts as one registrant toward your webinar's maximum number of registrations.
3 Share the test link and instructions with your testers. To access your webinar test link, click Presentation from the left-hand navigation. In the top-right, click Test presentation.
To invite your team members to join the test, click Copy test link instead. Paste this link into an email and send it to the testers. Make sure to include the dry run date and time so they know when to join, and direct them to log in to the webinar using the link and the email you registered them with.
After logging in, testers will arrive on the session details page.
From here, the host should click Join as host and any speakers should click Join as speaker. They'll then be prompted to select their camera and microphone settings.
4 Complete a Studio Broadcast presentation test. Hosts will need to allow the speakers to join by clicking the Speaker notifications button, then clicking Approve.
They can also click Approve all to save time.
Once everyone has joined, it's a good idea to practice the presentation and familiarize yourselves with the video controls.
The host won't be able to click Start stream, but you can still see what would display to attendees on the Stage.
NOTE: If you're testing right before the live presentation, the host will be able to start the stream 5 minutes before the scheduled start time. You do not need to leave and rejoin the presentation.
Hosts should practice managing the speakers and content on the Stage and managing requests to participate. For additional information, refer to our pages on hosting and speaking at a presentation.
Anyone who is also assigned as a moderator can review the layout of the engagement features as applicable.
NOTE: Any test Q&A and poll questions will be visible to attendees who log in to the webinar. Make sure to decline any test Q&A questions and delete any test poll questions, if you create any. Declined Q&A questions will remain visible to moderators during the live presentation.
When you're done testing, click Leave session.
Or, complete a Collaborative presentation test. Once everyone has joined, it's a good idea to practice the presentation and familiarize yourselves with the video controls.
A banner will appear at the top of the video player confirming that "This is not a live session." Next to the presentation name at the bottom of the screen, a "NOT LIVE" status indicator will be visible along with the option to copy the test link for quick sharing.
NOTE: If you're testing right before the live presentation, a countdown will appear 10 minutes before the scheduled start time. You do not need to leave and rejoin the presentation.
Hosts should take note of the Attendees section that appears in the toolbar on the right and get comfortable with the layout and managing requests to participate.
When you're done testing, have the host click End session, then End session again to confirm.
